Date: Sunday 23 August 2015
Leaving from the conference venue of the Rendezvous Grand Hotel Perth, Scarborough we will travel by coach to areas north of Perth.
Highlights of the day include visits to:
WAFEX, one of Australia’s largest flower export companies which ships fresh and dried flowers to over 16 countries. Managing director Craig Musson will introduce the company, explaining operations before we tour the packing facilities.
Farm walk at a large waxflower farm.
Lunch break at ‘A Taste of Chittering’, an annual festival featuring wildflowers, plants, food, wine, local produce and much more.
Award winning Zanthorrea Nursery, a retail nursery specialising in Australian natives (they market over 600 varieties).
During the day we will see firsthand why Western Australia is a biodiversity hot spot, one of just 34 such special places found around the world. We will see many spectacular plants in flower, especially if the season has been kind, hopefully including Leschenaultia, Isopogon, wattles and kangaroo paws.
Morning tea and afternoon tea are included in the tour. Lunch at own cost.
